Over WHAT!?
I just saw a video that someone posted on youtube with their thoughts on Black Friday and a clip from a Target that they were reposting to make their point stronger.
In the clip, you see the security guards (or police… I can’t really tell) open the doors for the awaiting mob, and after the first 10ish people come whooping through the door, two people fall. At least a minute and 20 people go by while these two people are yelling for help before the guards are able to intervene, block the people, and help the injured people up and out of the way.
AND OVER WHAT!? Saving $60 on a freaking TV? THIS is what our society has come down to?
I am just in awe. I’m in awe of the carelessness. I’m in awe of stupidity. I’m in awe of the complete disregard for our fellow man when there’s the idea of a “bigger” prize awaiting us.
People have completely lost sight of what’s truly important in life, because of all the shiny objects we see on TV.
I mean, if someone died during that stampede or even getting hit by a car the next day, it’s not like they’d be able to bring that awesome bluetooth, flatscreen TV, tickle-me-Elmo, or even that new pair of socks with them.
This whole consumerism thing has really gotten out of hand. This isn’t what the holidays are about. This isn’t what LIFE is about. We need to stop it or people will continue to get hurt every year.
And who knows, the next person might be you. All you wanted was that awesome new blueray for your grandmother….
